Pout
They are the whitest saltwater fish known in our zone. They are characterized by their prominent jaw and long and strong barbel. Their eyes are big and have the same diameter as their snout. They can reach up to 30 cm. They live at medium depths in rocky beds. Pouts are mostly sold fresh.
Pouts are usually fried. There is a recipe called “a la guetariana”, in which they are boiled in sea water.
