Cachaca (cachaça in Portuguese) is the typical and unique designation for the sugarcane alcoholic liquor produced in Brazil. It is obtained through the distillation of the fermented sugarcane juice.
While rums are made of treacle – the product that is left over after the crystallization of sugar –, the Cachaca rum comes from the cachaça, a product obtained before the crystallization of sugar.
It is used to prepare Caipiriña.
