Omphisa fuscidentalis, the bamboo worm, is the caterpillar of a nocturnal butterfly of the Crambidae family. This edible insect is found in bamboo forests in the north of Thailand, Laos and Myanmar, as well as in the chinese province of Yunnan. It is particularly appreciated by the inhabitants of these regions.

The bamboo worm is an important source of protein, more than the cow meat or fish.
