Pink grapefruit
They are grapefruits with a pink and reddish pulp, which owe their colour to the lycopene pigment.
Its popularity and consumption has grown in the last two decades in many countries. Its striking colour only appears when the temperatures are high enough.
The yellow colour of the peel is very different from the intensely brown colour of the pulp.
It barely has any seeds, about 1 or 2 per fruit and its pulp is firm, very juicy and sweet, not bitter at all. It is considered of lower quality than some other pigmented varieties so it is scarcely grown nowadays. Star Ruby is medium- sized and only has between 1 or 2 seeds in some fruits. Its peel is very thin, smooth and yellow, with red tonalities and a consistent and easy to remove peel. Its pulp has an intensely red colour and it gives a much more generous, sweeter and less bitter juice than in other varieties
It is a fruit that spoils very fast. Other types can be well stored for longer, but this variety tends to deteriorate in a few weeks.
