Flat peach
Seasonal period:
May, June, July, August, September
The flat peach or Saturn peach (Prunus persica var. platy carp) is a type of peach that came from a genetic mutation. It has a velvety skin and the texture of some peach varieties, but it is flattened in shape and smaller in size.
Flat peaches are said to come from Asia as well as peaches.
Flat peaches are as juicy, fresh and sweet as peaches although it depends on the varieties. We can find flat peaches with a whiter or orangish pulp, with their stones more or less stuck to the flesh and with a more greenish or reddish skin. Although this fruit is not as popular as peaches or nectarines, it also has a great deal of varieties.
Summer is the best season to consume them.
