Marc is the name given to the alcoholic product obtained from the distillation of any fermented liquid. It is mainly obtained from the remains of grapes that have been pressed for wine-making but it can  also be obtained from distilling molasses from sugarcane, or from other fermented beverages.

“Aguardiente”, which is a grape liquour,is the term applied to alcoholic drinks of a volume superior to 70% , independent of their origin.

It is known as “orujo” in Spain. Marc is obtained from the distillation of the pomace or marc.
