Champagne is a kind of sparkling wine produced in the traditional Champagne method within the historical region of Champagne in the northeast of France. It is legally defined and protected by its geographical designation of origin (PDO) that is, for a sparkling wine to be labeled “Champagne”, it must be produced from within the region´s borders.
Usually sparkling wine is white but there is also a rosé Champagne. Both are made by blending Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier and Pinot Noir grapes. However, a greater amount of red grapes is used to produce rosé champagne.
